About 29Safety: who writes it, what it is, and what it isn't

29Safety is safety software for U.S. employers with 5 to 500 workers, in construction and general industry, in every state. It comes with Harli, our synthetic intelligence (SI), and optional services from the 29Safety safety team when you want a person.

Based in
Texas
Rulebooks
29 CFR 1926 and 1910, plus the state plans
Languages
English and Spanish

What 29Safety does

The software builds and runs a safety program: written programs, JHAs, permits, toolbox talks, training records, inspections, lockout/tagout procedures, and your OSHA 300 log, on any phone or computer, in English and Spanish.

When you want a person, the 29Safety safety team sells its time one service at a time: sessions, program reviews, documents written for you, Spanish translation and on-site days. Prices are on the construction and general industry pages, and the written-for-you packages are on the packages page. Anyone can book the free 15-minute call.

How the templates are built

Every template is built by 29Safety and cites the rule it comes from. The citation is there so you, or someone qualified on your side, can check it against the regulation.

We work to keep every template accurate and up to date, but rules change and no template fits every workplace. Before you rely on a document, have someone qualified on your side check it, or book a program review with the 29Safety safety team.

Harli is synthetic intelligence, not a person

Synthetic intelligence (SI) is what we call how Harli is built. A language model does the reading and writing, but it can't answer from memory: rule answers have to come from the official OSHA text and state-plan sources she looks up when you ask, our software checks every citation against those sources before you see it, and anything about your company comes from your own records. Nobody reviews her answers one by one before you see them, and she can be wrong. That's why she shows her sources, saves the programs and JHAs she writes as drafts for you to review, and never tells you whether you meet a rule.

When she can't answer a question from her sources, or you ask for a person, she hands it to the 29Safety safety team. Those hand-offs cost nothing.

She learns, inside those lines. Tell her something about your company (who your competent person is, which lockout kit the night shift uses) and she keeps it for your company only; the list is under Settings, on the Harli page, where anyone on your team who can edit can delete a note. When the 29Safety safety team answers a question she handed off, the team can teach her that answer, and she uses it the next time someone asks. Every answer can get a thumbs up or down, and we read the thumbs down. None of this trains the language model on your data.

What 29Safety is, and what it isn't

  • It is software and templates that help employers build and run their own safety program, with the rule cited so it can be checked.
  • It is a help desk you can reach: the 29Safety safety team.
  • It isn't a law firm. Nothing in 29Safety is legal advice. For legal questions, talk to a lawyer.
  • It isn't an engineering firm. It doesn't do the work the rules give to a registered professional engineer, such as designing protective systems or certifying equipment and structures.
  • It doesn't certify compliance. No software can tell you that you comply with OSHA or a state plan.
  • It doesn't replace your competent person. Your competent and qualified people still review the documents and run the program on site.

The 29Safety safety team

The guides and templates are written and reviewed by the 29Safety safety team in Texas: people who have run safety on heavy-civil construction jobsites, in manufacturing plants and on power-generation and data-center sites under federal OSHA. We don't publish names; we publish the citation. The same team is 29Safety's help desk: it answers the questions Harli hands off, runs the sessions and program reviews customers book, and writes the documents and packages customers order.
