Your written safety program cited to 29 CFR 1926, with the JHAs, toolbox talks and records behind it. Asked for a safety manual before you can bid or start? Pick your trades and answer about 12 plain questions. It builds today, in English and Spanish.

What's in your safety manual

No OSHA standard asks for a document called a safety manual. The 1926 standards require specific programs when specific hazards are on the job, and GCs, owners and prequal reviewers want them bound together. 29Safety has 36 written programs, each cited to the paragraph it answers, and you turn on the ones your work needs. These are the ones crews ask about most.

Safety & Health Program

The company program the rest hang off: who runs safety, how you inspect, train and fix hazards, and the competent persons you designate. Signed, dated, with the review date tracked.

1926.20(b), 1926.21(b)(2)

Fall protection

Guardrails, nets or personal fall arrest at unprotected sides and edges 6 feet or more above a lower level, by task, and the written training certification record with each worker's name, the dates and the trainer's signature.

Subpart M: 1926.501(b)(1), 1926.503

Excavation and trenching

Utilities located before you dig, a protective system unless the cut is in stable rock or under 5 feet with no sign of a cave-in, and a competent person's inspection before work starts and after every rain.

Subpart P: 1926.651(b), (k), 1926.652(a)

Silica

The written exposure control plan: the tasks, the controls for each, housekeeping, how you restrict access, a competent person to run it, and a review at least once a year.

1926.1153(g)

Ladders and stairways

Safe construction, use, placement and care of ladders and stairways, and training by a competent person for each worker who uses them.

Subpart X: 1926.1060

Hazard communication

Your list of hazardous chemicals, labels, safety data sheets and training, and how other employers on the site get your SDSs. Every chemical has its SDS one tap away.

1926.59, 1910.1200(e)

Emergency action and fire protection

Escape routes, accounting for everyone, rescue and medical duties and how to report an emergency, plus a fire protection program for every phase of the work.

1926.35, 1926.24, 1926.150(a)

Heat, PPE and the rest

Heat illness, PPE, electrical, scaffolds, confined space, cranes and more from the library, turned on only for the hazards your jobs actually have.

1926.95; Subparts K, L, AA, CC

What comes with the manual

A binder on a shelf doesn't run a job. These are the records a GC, an owner or an inspector asks to see next to it, all in the same account.

Job hazard analyses (JHAs)

Pick the task; the hazards, controls and the rule behind each are already there. The crew reads it and signs on their phones, even with no signal, in English or Spanish.

High-risk work flags a competent person automatically

Toolbox talks with sign-in

A new talk every week in English and Spanish. The crew signs on a phone or by QR code, and attendance logs itself.

52 talks a year, bilingual

Training records

Every card and cert in one place: OSHA 10/30, forklift, CPR, competent person. Alerts at 60, 30 and 7 days.

1926.21(b)(2), 1926.503(b)

OSHA 300 log

Log injuries and near misses in minutes. Your 300, 300A and 301 data build themselves, with TRIR and DART. OSHA has you keep each year's forms for five years.

Part 1904, 1904.33(a)

Site-specific safety plan

One plan per job, built from your written program: scope, site contacts, competent persons, the hazards by phase, emergency information and the crew's sign-offs.

Built from your 1926 program and the job's JHAs

Prequal packet

Your written programs, training records, 300A summaries and insurance documents bundled into one PDF, in the order a prequal questionnaire asks for them. One click, current every time.

Questions

Anything else: safetyteam@29safety.com, or book a free 15-minute call.

Does OSHA require a safety manual?
No federal standard requires a document called a safety manual. Specific 1926 standards require specific written programs when the hazard is on your job, like the silica exposure control plan (1926.1153(g)) or the fall protection training certification record (1926.503(b)). GCs, owners and prequal platforms ask for those programs bound together, and that binder is the manual.
Our GC sent a list of programs. Can we match it?
Turn on the programs on the list from the library of 36. For a hazard the library doesn't cover, Harli drafts a custom program on any plan, saved as a draft for you to review. Rather have it written for you? The 29Safety safety team writes your manual and site plan, filled in with your company: see the packages.
Is it in Spanish?
Written programs turn into their own Spanish version with one button. Talks, JHAs, inspections and every sign-in screen come in Spanish, and each worker picks their own language.
Does 29Safety guarantee our GC accepts the manual?
No, and be careful of any software that says it does. Each GC and each prequal platform reviews differently. 29Safety builds your programs from the 1926 rules, with the rule cited on every part so you can check it. Your competent person reviews them, and your people run them on the job.
How long does it take?
Your first written program is ready about 10 minutes after you sign up. Edit anything you want before you use it.
